Starting this month, I really want to take the time to showcase sneakerheads across the country with extraordinary collections. For anyone passionate about their collection, I can think of no better way of rewarding their hard work and dedication by using the blog (which hit over 10,000 views this month!) to showcase their kicks. This series will also be posted on Soletron, so look to their Facebook or Twitter feed to find past and current features.
Today we are taking a look at T.Penick’s collection, who goes by the name “RetroPen23″ on instagram, where she has amassed an impressive 1900 followers. But enough of the introduction, we’ll let the man’s collection do the talking. Without further to do, T. Penick:
Q. You’re about to pack for a trip, and have to pick one pair of kicks to take. What are your favorite shoes in your collection right now.
My Favorite pair that I own right now would have to be the Jordan Banned 1. They are so comfortable and classic. I love black and red to begin with and these shoes have major history behind them.
What’s your favorite pair that you don’t own?
I don’t know if it will be soon [when I cop them] but my favorite pair that I don’t own is a tie between the Nike SB Pigeons (original Pigeons) and the Lebron 4 Fruity Pebbles.
How many pairs of sneaker do you own? Its gotta be well over 100.
I’m not even sure anymore, but if I had to guess, Ill say somewhere around 150-180 pairs of shoes.

Damn. That said, what would you say your 5 sneakers of all time.
Its hard to just pick 5 but my top five at this time would have to be.
A. Nike SB Pigeons
B. Nike air Lebron 4 Fruity Pebbles
C. Nike Air Jordan 1 Royal
D. Nike Air Lebron 8 South Beach
E. Nike Air Yeezy 1 Blink
Ok, so we know the top 5, but what does a typical weekly rotation look like?
Most of the time I dont get to wear my shoes because I work a lot. But I find myself picking from the top of the stacks to avoid a potential disaster. Typically I will find myself wearing some Jordan 1′s, Lebron 8′s or 9′s, or Air Max 1′s.
I know you girl is into kicks too, what’s it like having her share your passion?
Its unlike any feeling I can describe. She is the best thing to happen to me and I’m very grateful to have her in my life. At times she is more on top sneaker release dates and info than me [laughs].
That’s amazing, I’m genuinely happy for you. How did you first get into collecting?
I first started collecting when I got my first job at 17. I bought the Nike Air Jordan 14 “Last Shot” editions. In my neighborhood it was the norm and culture to wear Jordans. Jordan was/is the best player in basketball. Everyone wanted to be the best and it all started with wearing his shoes. Ever since then Ive been a student of the sneaker game and admirer of those before me.
That’s awesome, I always enjoy hearing how people get started. From the 14s to 180 pairs is a long way to come. Any additional remarks?
Thank you for picking me for this feature. I like collect one box at a time, and if my finances allow it, sometimes multiple boxes at a time [laughs].
