As a connoisseur of music, there is no greater feeling then stumbling across a new band or artist that I genuinely enjoy. Dead Modern Villains is one such band. With a sound similiar to the Queens of the Stone Age, Smile Empty Soul, Dinosaur Jr., Black Sabbath, Dead Modern Villains would technically be classified as 70′s or Stoner Rock. Their latest album, Wisconsin Blues was released in August of last year, and I have to say I am upset I spent a year of my life away from this band.
From the opening guitar rift in the title track of the album, I was instantly engaged, letting lead singer Kieth Bouches melodramatic vocals take me away. “How I Am” is another favorite from the album, with a killer bass line that just makes the track really groove. The sign of any good album, the 15 tracks each bring something to the table, and leave the listener not wanting to hit the skip button.
Now, it’s 2012, and the band is ready to record the second full length album. They’ve been touring around Wisconsin & the Midwest mixing up their set with dozens of rock ‘n’ roll songs written with one common theme…Making heads bounce! Make no mistake, DMV is an original act, and their live shows will blow you away. The band was recently nominated for 2012 Rock Band of the Year by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (32nd annual WAMI awards show).
