Active since 2009, Step Daddy is the collaboration of 4 Seattle veterans, who since their inception they have written more than 25 songs and on the eve of their first LP are already planning the tracking of their second album. The band’s sound will remind fans of bands like Faith no More, Rage Against the Machine, Tomahawk, Refused, and Mastodon, all of which have recorded a high play count in my Itunes library. Self proclaimed as   “Progressive Post-Alternative Apocalyptic Funk Metal” the band combines extremely intelligent writing that is every bit enjoyable as it is humorous.

Their most recent CD, “Love” was brought to my attention, and I am a huge fan. The album cover itself really sets the tone for what’s to come, and the creative, at times absurd tracks keep the listener engaged. The lead track “Atlas at Last” starts out with Primus-sounding bass slaps, (always a good sign) and takes off from there, delivering a unique and high quality sound that speaks to phenomenal production quality. Other favorites on the track were “People Pleaser” and “Brain de Homage” which really showcased the bands inventive lyrics and metal sound.  All in all, the album was a solid work well done, and I look forward to future releases from Step Daddy.
